||The Burial - GNT|
(Good News Translation)
|Matthew 26||57||When it was evening, a rich man from Arimathea arrived;|
his name was Joseph, and he was also a disciple of Jesus.
|Luke 23||51b||He was a good and honorable man,|
who was waiting for the coming of the Kingdom of God.
Although he was a member of the Council,
he had not agreed with their decision and action.
|Matthew 27||58||He went into the presence of Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.|
Pilate gave orders for the body to be given to Joseph.
|59||So Joseph took it, wrapped it in a new linen sheet,|
|60a||and placed it in his own tomb,|
which he had just recently dug out of solid rock.
|John 19||39||Nicodemus, who at first had gone to see Jesus at night,|
went with Joseph, taking with him about one hundred pounds of spices,
a mixture of myrrh and aloes.
|40||The two men took Jesus' body and wrapped it in linen cloths with the spices|
according to the Jewish custom of preparing a body for burial.
|Matthew 27||60b||Then he rolled a large stone across the entrance to the tomb and went away.|
